Feminist Counseling, Gender, Counseling TechniquesAbstrak
Feminist counseling is a psychotherapeutic approach that focuses on understanding gender issues and social injustice in improving the well-being of individuals, especially women. This approach emerged as a response to women's needs that are often overlooked in traditional counseling. In feminist counseling, behavioral differences between men and women are seen as a result of the process of socialization and interaction with the environment, not as an innate trait. Some of the techniques used in feminist counseling include open dialogue, self-reflection, gender education, client empowerment, gender role deconstruction, social advocacy, and the use of narrative. While feminist counseling has its advantages, such as client empowerment and sensitivity to social issues, it also faces disadvantages, such as a lack of flexibility in the context of certain issues and the risk of being perceived as too political. Overall, feminist counseling plays an important role in promoting gender equality and supporting individual development in the face of existing social challenges.
