PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN METODE DEBAT TERHADAP TINGKAT PARTISIPASI BELAJAR PESERTA DIDIK PADA MATA PELAJARAN PPKN KELAS XI DI SMAN 1 ORONG TELU

Abstrak

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the debate method on students' learning participation in the subject of Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) at SMA Negeri 1 Orong Telu. The low level of student participation in PPKn learning forms the background for the need for innovative learning methods that can enhance active student engagement. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, employing a pretest-posttest control group model. Data collection techniques include observation, questionnaires, and interviews, and the data were statistically analyzed through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests. The results show a significant difference between the experimental group that received the debate method and the control group that did not. The average posttest score of the experimental group increased significantly compared to the control group, indicating that the debate method is effective in improving students' learning participation. Therefore, the debate method can be an effective alternative for enhancing active student participation in PPKn learning.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan metode debat terhadap partisipasi belajar siswa dalam mata pelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) di SMA Negeri 1 Orong Telu. Permasalahan rendahnya partisipasi siswa dalam pembelajaran PPKn menjadi latar belakang pentingnya inovasi metode pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan keterlibatan aktif peserta didik. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain quasi experiment, menggunakan model pretest-posttest control group design. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, angket, dan wawancara, serta dianalisis secara statistik melalui uji normalitas, homogenitas, dan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen yang diberi perlakuan metode debat dan kelompok kontrol yang tidak diberi perlakuan. Rata-rata nilai posttest kelompok eksperimen meningkat secara signifikan dibandingkan kelompok kontrol, yang menunjukkan bahwa metode debat efektif dalam meningkatkan partisipasi belajar siswa. Dengan demikian, metode debat dapat dijadikan alternatif pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan partisipasi aktif siswa dalam pembelajaran PPKn.
