Purpose – This article aims to examine the process of creating three-dimensional fine art using clay as a strategy in developing pottery craft MSMEs in Kemuning village. The research focus includes design innovation, production optimization, and strengthening the competitiveness of pottery products in the modern market. Methods – This research uses the method of exploring artistic practices in developing aesthetics, techniques and innovation in creating attractive pottery, interviews with MSME players, as well as market analysis to identify consumer needs and market opportunities.Findings – The research results show that three-dimensional clay-based works of art can increase the aesthetic value and functionality of pottery products, making them more attractive to consumers. Modern design innovations that combine traditional and contemporary elements have been proven to be able to increase the selling power of products at local and international levels. Research implications/limitations – This research also found limitations, such as the lack of access for MSMEs to modern production technology, limited design skills, and challenges in reaching digital markets effectively. By overcoming these limitations through training, technology adoption and digital-based marketing strategies, pottery craft MSMEs have the potential to become a competitive and sustainable creative economy sector.
Pengembangan UMKM kerajinan gerabah di Desa Kemuning, Bondowoso melalui pendekatan seni rupa tiga dimensi berbahan tanah liat ini bertujuan untuk menggali inovasi desain, efisiensi produksi, dan strategi pemasaran dalam rangka meningkatkan daya saing produk gerabah di pasar modern. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksplorasi praktik artistik secara langsung pada tiga UMKM lokal, disertai observasi, wawancara, dan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan seni rupa tiga dimensi mampu memperkuat nilai estetika dan fungsionalitas produk gerabah, terutama melalui penggabungan elemen tradisional dengan desain kontemporer. UMKM A (Kemuning Art Clay) dinilai paling inovatif dan adaptif terhadap teknologi modern, UMKM B (Gerabah Tani Lestari) fokus pada pelestarian nilai tradisi, sementara UMKM C (Kriya Tanah Kemuning) menonjol dalam produk dekoratif bernilai artistik. Kendala utama yang dihadapi meliputi keterbatasan akses teknologi, regenerasi pengrajin, dan minimnya pelatihan. Kesimpulan menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan kolaboratif, pelatihan desain, serta pemanfaatan media digital sangat penting untuk memperkuat eksistensi dan keberlanjutan UMKM gerabah. Integrasi seni rupa tiga dimensi terbukti menjadi solusi strategis untuk menjembatani tradisi dan modernitas dalam ekonomi kreatif berbasis budaya lokal.
