STRATEGI GURU SENI BUDAYA DALAM MELESTARIKAN TARIAN TRADISIONAL DI TENGAH DOMINASI TARIAN MODERN

Abstrak

This study aims to describe the strategies used by Arts and Culture teachers in preserving traditional dance amid the increasing dominance of modern dances in schools. The rise of global dance trends, such as hip-hop, K-pop choreography, and social media dance content, has contributed to a declining interest among students toward traditional dance. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The participants consist of an Arts and Culture teacher and seventh-grade students. The findings reveal that the preservation strategies implemented by the teacher include demonstration methods, practice-based learning, the use of audio-visual media, cultural value integration, motivational approaches, and collaboration with local dancers. Supporting factors include institutional support, learning facilities, and performance opportunities provided by the school. Meanwhile, obstacles identified include low student interest, the influence of popular culture, and limited practice time. These findings indicate that teacher creativity plays a crucial role in maintaining cultural identity and transmitting traditional dance through formal education.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi guru Seni Budaya dalam melestarikan tarian tradisional di tengah dominasi tarian modern di lingkungan sekolah. Fenomena meningkatnya minat siswa terhadap tarian modern seperti hip hop, K-pop dance, dan tren media sosial menyebabkan tarian tradisional semakin kurang diminati. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari guru Seni Budaya dan siswa kelas VII. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pelestarian yang dilakukan guru meliputi penggunaan metode demonstrasi, latihan praktik (practice-based learning), media audio-visual, integrasi nilai budaya dalam materi tari, pemberian motivasi, serta kolaborasi dengan seniman lokal. Faktor pendukung strategi tersebut yaitu dukungan sekolah, sarana pembelajaran, serta adanya kegiatan pentas seni. Sementara itu, hambatan yang ditemukan berupa rendahnya minat siswa, pengaruh budaya populer, dan keterbatasan waktu latihan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kreativitas guru sangat berperan dalam menjaga keberlanjutan budaya lokal melalui pembelajaran seni tari di sekolah.
