Abstrak

Background: Increasing age often causes various disease problems, decreased function, and decreased body balance as well as the risk of falls. Falls are a problem that usually occurs in the elderly. This problem is caused by multiple factors, both external and internal to the elderly. This study aims to describe the risk of falls in elderly people living in the Bojongbata Social Services Home, Pemalang. Method: This research is a descriptive study. The data collection technique used is a total sampling technique, namely 91 elderly people. This research instrument uses the Morse Fall Scale. A questionnaire is used to predict the risk of falling. The data analysis used is univariate in a percentage frequency distribution. Results: The results of this study show that there are some characteristics of the respondents. The average age of the respondents is 71.81 years, 56.0% of them are female, the average length of stay in the Social Services Home for the Elderly is 31.48 months or 2 years 7 months, 39 elders (42.9%) are not at risk of falling, 32 elders (35.2%) are at low risk and 20 elders (22.0%) are at high risk. Conclusion: The description of the risk of falls in the elderly living in the Bojongbata Pemalang Social Services Home is found to be in the no-risk category. However, it can be seen that those at low risk and those at high risk will also be getting older day by day which has the possibility that there will be a risk of falling.
