Typhoid fever is caused by Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi (S. Typhi) and Salmonella enterica serovar Paratyphi (S. Paratyphi). S. Paratyphi A and B. Given the status of typhoid fever as an endemic disease whose spread is influenced by hygiene and sanitation factors, factors related to the incidence of typhoid fever include typhoid fever carriers, food or beverage hygiene, family toilets, clean water sources, and hand washing habits.
