Abstrak

Hypertension is a health problem that has serious impacts if not treated properly, because it can cause complications such as stroke, kidney failure, and heart disease. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be used to help lower blood pressure is Butterfly Hug therapy, which is an easy-to-do independent relaxation technique. This study aims to determine the effect of Butterfly Hug therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients in Sidigede Village, Welahan District, Jepara Regency. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental designpre-test and post-test with non-equivalent control group, involving 34 respondents divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group received Butterfly Hug therapy twice a day for seven consecutive days, each for 15 minutes. Blood pressure measurements were taken before and after the intervention, and the data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-Test and Independent Sample t-Test. The results showed a significant decrease in blood pressure in the intervention group, both systolic and diastolic (p < 0.001), while the control group did not show a significant change in systolic pressure (p = 0.873), although there was a decrease in diastolic (p < 0.001). Tests between groups also showed significant differences after intervention (p = 0.002 for systolic and p < 0.001 for diastolic). In conclusion, Butterfly Hug therapy is effective in lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients and can be used as a simple and affordable non-pharmacological relaxation therapy.
