ABSTRACT
The achievement of active long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC) family planning participants reached the target from 2015 to 2019; however, in 2020, the achievement of active long-acting reversible contraceptives family planning participants decreased, namely from 24.5% from the target of 25.11%). A factor that can influence women of childbearing age’s perception of the use of long-term contraceptive methods is the existence of education, which can be done in several ways, including ABPK media and educational video media. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of ABPK educational media and videos on the perceptions of women of childbearing age regarding long-term contraceptive methods at Tanjung Batu Health Center. This study used pre-experimental research with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The sample used was all women of childbearing age in the working area of Tanjung Batu Health Center, totalling 2171. Sampling was based on a non-probability sampling technique using consecutive sampling so that a sample of 60 respondents was obtained (30 ABPK intervention groups and 30 video intervention groups). Data collection was carried out using an adaptation of the perception instrument by Alami et al. (2019) and was carried out in January 2024. Analysis was done using statistical tests to look at univariate and bivariate data. This study showed an influence of ABPK media on women of childbearing age’s perception of long-acting reversible contraceptives (P-value=0.001<α 0.05), and there was no influence of video media on women of childbearing age’s perception of long-acting reversible contraceptives (P-value=0.063<α 0.05). This indicates that ABPK media is more effective in increasing perception than video media. Suggestion: It is hoped that women of childbearing age can focus on receiving IEC delivered by health workers so that they can increase knowledge and positive perceptions regarding long-term contraceptive methods.
